Maximising Brand Engagement Across the Buyer Journey

Six strategies to strengthen brand engagement at every touchpoint, from CRM and AI personalisation to gamification and omnichannel.

Maximizing Brand Engagement Across the Buyer Journey

Strong brand engagement throughout the buyer journey builds trust and loyalty and drives conversions. From first awareness to post-purchase, every touchpoint is a chance to deepen the customer relationship.

Yet many marketers struggle with the same obstacles: fragmented systems, a lack of joined-up analytics and difficulty personalising interactions. Here are six strategies to overcome them.

1. Integrated Customer Relationship Management (CRM)

Integrated CRM platforms like HubSpot or Salesforce give you a single view of customer interactions across channels. With the data in one place, you can spot purchasing patterns and tailor your communication. If you know a customer prefers a specific product, for example, you can send targeted promotions that strengthen engagement and build loyalty.

Scratcher campaigns can send their data straight into these systems through our integrations, so every sign-up and answer adds to the same customer profile.

2. AI-Powered Personalisation

AI makes highly individual personalisation possible by analysing behaviour and preferences. It can improve brand engagement through:

  • Recommendation systems: suggest products based on browsing history and past purchases.
  • Personalised shopping experiences: adapt website content and layout to individual customer profiles.
  • Chatbots and customer service: give instant, personalised help throughout the journey.
  • Dynamic pricing: adjust prices in real time based on demand and customer behaviour.
  • Predictive analytics: anticipate customer needs, for example with restocking reminders, to encourage repeat purchases.

3. User-Generated Content (UGC)

UGC, including reviews and social media interactions, gives authentic insight into how customers see your brand. According to a Stackla survey, 79% of consumers say UGC strongly influences their purchasing decisions, compared with only 13% for brand-created content. Consumers are also 2.4 times more likely to see UGC as authentic than content made by brands. Encouraging and showcasing real customer content can do a lot for engagement and trust.

4. Email Marketing Optimisation

Personalising email content based on historical data, such as purchase history and location, can increase engagement and conversion rates. Matas, for example, introduced a new engagement model for its 1.8 million loyalty members and found that improving member engagement led to a significant revenue increase. By moving just 1.5% of members to a higher engagement tier, they projected a €13 million revenue gain, a clear sign of what targeted email strategies can do.

5. Interactive Content and Gamification Marketing

Interactive campaigns and gamification create engaging experiences while collecting valuable first-party data.

Activewear retailer EYDA used gamified marketing to generate leads and build brand awareness. Their "Fit for Every Body" quiz attracted 12,000 participants from 15,000 unique visitors, an 80% conversion rate. With a daily spend of around €40, EYDA's cost per lead was €0.30, 35% lower than their usual Meta ads. On top of that, the quiz gave them insight into customer preferences. Read the full EYDA case.

6. Omnichannel Communication

A seamless omnichannel experience is vital for consistent brand engagement. Nordic electronics retailer POWER shows how with its monthly live shopping broadcast, POWER TV LIVE. Streaming on its website and social media channels, POWER showcases products and engages viewers with interactive elements like the Wheel of Fortune. The streams attract 30,000 to 140,000 viewers, with around 70% actively engaging, which boosts visibility and reach. Read the full POWER case.

Bringing It All Together

Engaging customers across the whole buyer journey means moving from static, one-size-fits-all communication to dynamic, personalised experiences. Integrated systems, AI-powered personalisation, user-generated content, interactive campaigns and omnichannel communication all play a part, and together they help brands build lasting connections and stand out.
