A leaderboard shows the best players. People play again to climb the list, which makes it a strong partner for skill games and competitions. Leaderboards are a special format: you need the Special formats add-on, or a plan that includes it.
Add a leaderboard step by step
- Under Flow, click Add page and choose Leaderboard. The page comes with a title, a subtitle and the leaderboard. You can also put the leaderboard on the finish page, so players see their place right after the game.
- Click the leaderboard. Under Campaigns, choose the campaigns that count. A leaderboard can combine several campaigns, for example one per week.
- Under Games, choose the games that count in each campaign.
- Choose the Measured attribute: Points, Time elapsed, Time remaining, Attempts used, Click counter or Drawing tickets.
- Under Ranking, give the rank column a name, for example "#".
- Under Columns, choose what to show next to the score. Click Add column and Select a field, for example the first name. Click Reorder to change the order, and Done reordering when you're done.
- Set how many Rows to show, for example the top 10.
- Go to the Settings tab and decide how scores add up (see below).
- Make sure the campaign has a form. Only players who filled in the form are on the leaderboard.
How the score is counted
- By default, each player's best result counts.
- Sum values (instead of using max value): every play adds to the player's total. Use it when people collect points over many plays or days.
- Use drawing tickets for campaigns: rank by drawing tickets instead of a game result.
- Always show current lead's position: players always see their own place, even when they are outside the top rows.
The leaderboard always puts the highest number at the top. Players with the same score share a place.
Good to know: To put the fastest players first, measure Time remaining, not Time elapsed. A higher Time elapsed means a slower player, and it would be ranked higher.
Show only first names or initials to protect players' privacy. Only add columns you have permission to show publicly.
Styles
On the Styles tab, set the Font, the colors of the Header, Header text, Row, Row text, Current and Current text (the player's own row), and the Size, Header size, Row size, Gap and Column spacing.
Add-ons
- Auto-refresh data ("Automatically refreshes the data while it's visible"): the list updates by itself while people look at it. Great on a screen at an event.
- Reset data ("Automatically resets the data on a set schedule"): start over on a schedule. Choose the Reset interval (Daily, Weekly or Monthly), the Reset time (hour and minute) and, for weekly and monthly resets, the Reset day (for example Monday). The reset follows the campaign's time zone.
A reset doesn't delete any results. The leaderboard just counts results from after the last reset, so you can run a new competition every week with the same campaign.
See the full list
The campaign's Leaderboard tab shows the full list, with Show lead to see who is behind each score. Use it to find and contact the winners, or draw winners among the top players.
Common problems
- The leaderboard is empty. Check that the right campaigns and games are selected, and that players filled in the form. Plays without a form aren't on the list. With Reset data, results from before the last reset don't count.
- The slowest players are at the top. Switch the Measured attribute from Time elapsed to Time remaining.
- A player plays many times and is far ahead. That is Sum values at work. Turn it off to count only each player's best result, or limit how often people can play. See Limit how often people can play.
- The player can't see their own place. Turn on Always show current lead's position.
- The list doesn't update. Turn on Auto-refresh data, or reload the page.
