Spin the wheel: slices, design and settings # Spin the wheel: slices, design and settings Set the number of slices, link each slice to a prize, design slices with text and images, and style the border, tab and center. In **Spin the Wheel**, players spin a wheel of prizes. **Spin the Bottle** is a variant where a bottle (or another image) in the center spins instead. The prize is decided by the prize settings, not by chance on the wheel: the wheel always stops on a slice that matches the result. So link every slice to the right prize. ## Slices and prizes 1. Click the wheel and open the **Content** tab. 2. Choose the number of **Wheel slices**: 2 to 32. 3. Under **Slices**, choose for each slice what it stands for: one of your prizes, **Win**, **No prize**, or **Try again** (with the add-on below). You can also choose **Create new prize**. ## Design the wheel Choose the **Design mode**: - **Editor**: design each slice in Scratcher. - **Image upload**: upload a finished wheel image. Click **Download .psd image template** to give your designer a template with the right size and slices. In **Editor** mode, click a slice (**Click to edit slice**) to open **Edit slice**: - **Background**: a **Color** or an **Image**, with **Image size** and **Image rotation**. - **Layers**: add text and image layers. A text layer has **Text**, **Color**, **Font**, **Border**, **Letter spacing**, **Text curve** (to follow the edge of the wheel) and **Shadow**. Layers snap into place when you drag them. - **Copy design to other slices**: choose the **Slices** and **What to copy** (**Layers** and/or **Background**). The prizes of the other slices stay the same. - Text layers that follow a curve can use **Font width compensation** to keep the letters even. - Right-click or use the object actions to **Center horizontally**, **Center vertically**, **Move up**, **Move down**, **Move to top** or **Move to bottom**. Turn on **Guidelines** to line things up. ## Styles The **Styles** tab has four sub-tabs: - **Game**: the wheel's **Size** and **Shadow**. - **Border**: **Enable border**, its **Color** and **Size**. - **Tab**: the pointer that shows the winning slice. **Enable flipper/tab**, choose the **Tab type** (**SVG** or **Image**), and set its **Color**, **Border**, **Size** or **Width**, **Vertical position** and **Shadow**. - **Center**: **Enable center image**, choose the **Image**, its **Size** and **Rotation**, and whether to **Spin image with wheel**. ## Settings - **Spin object**: **Wheel** or **Center image** (for spin-the-bottle style games). - **Spin direction**: **Right** or **Left**. - **Wheel rotation offset**: turn the wheel so a slice starts at the top. On the **Effects** tab you can upload a **Spin sound**. ## Add-ons - **Try again**: players who land on a "Try again" slice get another spin. Set the **Try again chance**, and turn on **Update button text** to write a new **Button text** for the second spin. - **Border decoration image**: add small images around the border, such as light bulbs. Set the **Amount**, **Size**, and **Move left / right** and **Move up / down** to place them. To copy one slice's design to the others, choose **All slices** or single slices under **Slices**. The add-on **Border decoration image** reads "Add a decorative image around the wheel's border".
