Connect Ortto # Connect Ortto Create a Custom API key in Ortto, connect it, and create or update people with the fields you choose. With the Ortto integration, everyone who signs up is created or updated as a person in Ortto, matched on their email address. ## What you need - An Ortto account, and a user who can add data sources. - Your Ortto account must be hosted in Ortto's European region, because Scratcher connects to Ortto's European API. If your account is in another region, write to us in the chat. ## Step 1: Create an API key in Ortto 1. In Ortto, go to **Data sources** and click **New data source**. 2. Choose **Custom API**. 3. Give it a name you recognise, for example "Scratcher". 4. Copy the **API key** that Ortto shows, and finish creating the data source. ## Permissions the key needs Scratcher uses the key to read people, create or update (merge) people, and read your custom person fields. If Ortto asks which actions the key may perform, allow those. Nothing else is needed. ## Step 2: Connect Ortto to Scratcher 1. In Scratcher, go to **Settings** > **Integrations** and click **Ortto**. 2. Paste the key in **Api Key**. 3. Click **Install integration**. Scratcher checks that it can read people in Ortto. ## Step 3: Turn it on in a campaign 1. In the editor, go to **Connect** > **Integrations** > **Ortto** and click **Activate**. 2. If you have connected more than one account, choose it under **Select account**. 3. Under **Field mappings**, match each **Scratcher field** to an Ortto field. There is no list to choose: Ortto receives everyone in one place, and you group them with Ortto's audiences. 4. Under **Filter by permissions (optional)**, choose your marketing consent checkbox. 5. Click **Save**, and then **Test**. > Good to know: Ortto has no list to choose, so Scratcher starts sending as soon as you click **Activate**. Activate it before the campaign goes live, or set it up right away. ## Field mapping - Email and phone number are sent automatically. - Besides your own custom fields, you can map to **Name**, **First name**, **Last name**, **Birthday**, **City**, **Country**, **Region**, **Postal code**, **Language**, **GDPR** and **External ID**. - Map a consent's **Accepted** field to **GDPR** to record consent in Ortto. ## What is sent and when New sign-ups are sent within a minute or two, and existing leads are sent when you activate it. **Delivery status** shows whether each person was created or already existed. ## Troubleshooting - "All or some of the fields are invalid..." when installing: the key is wrong, or your Ortto account isn't in the European region. - Deliveries fail: the data source was deleted or the key was changed in Ortto. Create a new key and connect it with **Add new account**.
