Discount codes are the most popular prize for webshops. Winners see their code on the prize page, and you can also send it by email.
Fixed code or unique codes?
- Fixed code: everyone gets the same code, for example SUMMER20. Easy, but the code can be shared.
- Unique codes: every winner gets their own code from a list you upload. Safer, and you can see which code went to whom.
Add a fixed code
- Open the prize and select Discount code under Redemption method.
- Choose Fixed code as Type.
- Type the code in Code and save the prize.
Upload unique codes
- Make the codes in your webshop first. Most shop systems can create a batch of unique codes.
- Save them as a CSV file with one code per row, in the first column.
- Open the prize, select Discount code and choose Unique codes. Save the prize. (You have to create the prize before you can add codes.)
- Click Manage discount codes, open the Add tab and choose File.
- Select your CSV file. Check the Preview of first 10 codes, and turn on Skip first row if your file has a header.
- Click Upload codes. You can leave the page while the codes are uploaded.
You can also add a single code under Manual.
Keep track of your codes
The List tab shows all codes and whether they are used. You can search, Mark as used, Mark as unused or delete codes. Delete all codes removes all codes that haven't been given out.
Upload enough codes. A prize with unique codes can't be won when there are no unused codes left. Upload at least as many codes as the prize's quantity.
Show the code to the winner
Add the dynamic tag for the discount code to the prize page or the prize email. Most templates already have it. See Personalise texts with dynamic tags.
Discount codes are part of all paid plans. Barcodes need a higher plan.
The codes list has a search (Search codes), and each code's menu (Code actions) has Mark as used, Mark as unused and Delete. The barcode preview says "No codes to preview" until codes are added.
