You can import contacts you already have, for example to recognise them as existing participants.
- On the Leads page, click Export / Import and open the Import tab ("Import leads from a CSV file.").
- Choose the separator your file uses with Select separator: Tab, Comma (,), Semicolon (;) or Pipe (|).
- Click Select CSV and choose your file.
- You see the first rows under Imported CSV. For each column, choose the lead field it belongs to, or Skip column.
- Turn on Skip the first row if the file has a header row.
- Click Import.
The import runs in the background. It may take a few moments before the leads appear in the list.
How leads are matched
Leads are matched on email address. If a lead with the same email exists, it is updated with the values from the file, instead of created twice. Map a column to the email field, so leads can be matched.
Import into a campaign
If you import from a campaign's Leads tab, the imported people are also added to that campaign's leads.
Good to know
- The file must be a CSV (or text) file.
- Empty rows are skipped.
- Importing needs a role that is allowed to edit the audience.
- Only import people you have the right to store and contact.
